Proofreading
What is proofreading? It’s the final polish of your document. It does not include any form of heavy editing. A proofreader only changes things that are incorrect, as proven by the style guide, dictionary, or grammar book. Proofreading does not include changing the author’s voice or style of language. If your copy needs a rewrite or a deep edit this is not the service for you.
The following are some of the things I check for in a proofread:
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Punctuation
- Font and text size
- Headings
- Line spacing
- Indentation
- Page numbers
- Labels
- Captions
- Images
- UK vs US English
- Style guide conformity
- Typesetting
- Factual Errors
You will also receive:
• A full report detailing my observations while proofreading your document or manuscript.
• A style sheet to help you remember the methods used in this document for future standardisation.
